5 New Rides Coming To Kentucky Kingdom in 2015
After a five-year hiatus, Kentucky Kingdom made a triumphant return in 2014. The park attracted nearly 600,000 visitors and sold 117,000 season passes in 2014. These numbers led the theme park’s owners to expand the park and invest in new rides for 2015.
Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer said:
“Kentucky Kingdom’s return “has had a significant impact on quality of life and the attraction package we can offer visitors, It also provided a badly needed boost in summer experiences for young people.”
The park plans to spend eight to ten million on additional rides and improvements for 2015. That leads us to believe they did better than expected in 2014.
Ed Hart, leader of the group that re-opened Kentucky Kingdom said:
“We feel good about where we are. We have a very healthy cash flow,”
Admission was very reasonably priced in 2014 and is set to be the same for 2015. General Admission was $44.95 and season passes were $59.95 for early buyers. Starting November 1st, guests can begin to purchase season passes online at the early bird pricing.
2015 Season Passes include:
- UNLIMITED admission to Kentucky Kingdom and Hurricane Bay during the 2015 season.
- UNLIMITED rides in the park, even during the state fair!
- $1.00 large soft drinks all season long.
- 20% discount on all park food.
- 20% discount on all park merchandise.
- The park also offers FREE water park tubes and FREE sunscreen for everyone!
Many guests said in surveys that they wanted the park to be open more often and longer times. Park officials took this into serious consideration. So, for 2015, the season will be lengthened from 94 days to 110 days!
One of the awesome new rides for 2014 was Lightning Run, a ten-story steel coaster starting off with a 100-foot, 80-degree drop!

The park is adding five attractions in 2015, including three rides being moved in from other parks.
The T3 Roller Coaster; A suspended looping coaster with five gravity defying inversions. (a refurbished T2)
The Raging River Rapids Raft Ride
The Enterprise (a modernized Ferris wheel-shaped ride that flattens as it spins its passengers in gondolas)
Also debuting next year are two new rides; a 130-foot-tall SkyCatcher swing and Cyclos pendulum that rotates 360 degrees which will cost about $1 million with installation.
