Daredevil Nik Wallenda Prepares to Walk on Spinning 400ft Orlando Eye
Daredevil, Nik Wallenda known for his sky-high stunts, is planning to walk along the top of the 400-foot Orlando Eye attraction this Wednesday.
Wallenda said:
“You have you understand this is my passion, entertaining people, inspiring people and encouraging people to do greater things. If I have any missteps, I can’t stop”.
The seventh-generation high-wire performer said he first saw the giant wheel when he was vacationing with his family ans wanted to do a stunt with it ever since. Nik plans to ride to the top of the wheel, climb out, and then walk the outer rim 400ft above the ground while it’s in rotation. The Orlando Eye spins at 1 mile per hour, but Wallenda said he’s been training at much faster speeds.
Wallenda won’t wear a safety harness like he did when he crossed Niagara Falls in 2012, and it will be the first public event where he won’t use a balancing pole. There will also be no safety wire or nets to catch him if he falls. Wallenda plans to walk the entire length of four of the wheel’s capsules while it is in motion. Safety personnel will be in each capsule just in case anything would go wrong.
This morning at 11:00am, Nik and the i-Drive 360 team held a press conference to discuss the stunt. Watch below.
The Orlando Eye’s official grand public opening is scheduled for May 4.
