First Look: Universal Orlando’s TapuTapu device For Volcano Bay
Today, Universal provided a first look at the new TapuTapu wearable coming to Volcano Bay that will completely re-invent the way guests experience water theme park entertainment. Volcano Bay will feature immersive environments, exhilarating slides, relaxing escapes, and amazing technology that maximizes the fun!
The TapuTapu wearable gives you the ability to enjoy a virtual line. Guests will receive a TapuTapu wristband upon entry to the park (and must return it when you exit the park). You’ll walk up to the totem in front of an attraction entrance and with just a simple tap, receive a return time for that attraction. The TapuTapu then allows you to virtually wait in line so you can enjoy other areas of Volcano Bay such as the wave pool while you wait. When it’s time for you to ride, TapuTapu will alert you to head over to the attraction. Unlike the similar device over at the mouse, as of now, guests will not be able to purchase their own TapuTapu wearable.
Aside from a virtual queue line, TapuTapu also allows you to explore various TapuTapu play experiences through-out the park. guests can control streams of water spurting from whales in Tot Tiki Reef or shoot water cannons at other guests snaking down Kopiko Wai Winding River. You can even illuminate images in the volcano’s hidden caves!
Volcano Bay will open May 25 as a water theme park with unbelievable theming and incredible immersion. Volcano Bay will be an entirely new water theme park experience filled with incredible thrills and perfected relaxation. The signature attraction will be the Krakatau Aqua Coaster — a water coaster going straight through the giant Krakatau volcano. But that’s not all! Volcano Bay will offer something for everyone – including a multi-directional wave pool with sandy beaches, a peaceful winding river, twisting multi-rider raft rides, speeding body slides that drop from the top of the volcano into the waters below and so much more. Plus, there will be no waiting in lines, no carrying rafts or tubes up stairs, and no hassles at all!
Although we love the idea of not waiting in line, but that makes us wonder if the park will constantly be elbow to elbow since the queue lines will not be filled with guests. We will just have to wait and see for ourselves on May 25th!
