Harry Potter Film Stars Join 4th Annual Celebration Of Harry Potter Event
Universal Orlando has just announced new details about the fourth annual “A Celebration of Harry Potter”. The three-day event will be host a number of magic-filled activities take place January 27-29, 2017. This year’s event will be give guests the opportunity to meet a number of stars and talent that helped bring Harry Potter to life on the big screen. Warwick Davis, who played Professor Flitwick and Griphook, and Matthew Lewis, who played Neville Longbottom, are the first of the stars who appeared on screen to be announced. According to Universal, more talent will be announced on a later date!
Not only can guests meet some on-screen talent, they will also have the opportunity to meet some of the creative talent who made the vision of Harry Potter a reality. So far, the list includes:
- Nick Dudman- make-up and creature effects designer
- Pierre Bohanna- head prop-maker
- Paul Harris- the world’s only Wand Combat choreographer
- Mary GrandPré- famed illustrator for the Harry Potter Books
- Eduardo Lima and Miraphora Mina- established the visual graphic style of the Harry Potter films as well as Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them
This year’s event will give guests more opportunities than ever before to celebrate J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding World with a variety of exclusive experiences and the largest Harry Potter Expo in event history. At the expo, guests will be able to see authentic props and the incredible behind-the-scenes talent that went into creating the Harry Potter film series at the Warner Bros. Studio Tour London- The Making of Harry Potter. Have you ever wondered what house you would belong in? At the Harry Potter: The Exhibition- Sorting Hat Experience exhibit, guests will be sorted into their Hogwarts house just like in the movies! MinaLima will also have a booth at the expo where guests can meet graphic designer Miraphora Mina and Eduardo Lima. They will also be able to see various props prints from the films!
Have you ever wanted to test your Harry Potter knowledge? Pottermore has paired up with Audible for the Audible Recall challenge. The audio challenge will decide who knows the wizarding world inside-out and who has a bad case of the wrackspurts. If that isn’t challenging enough, guests can test their knowledge of the Harry Potter books at the Trivia Challenge. While your knowledge is being tested, guests will also have the change for a meet and greet and signing with Mary GrandPré and to sign the “Muggle Wall” and share what Harry Potter means to them.
Guests can also get a glimpse into the world of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child as well as see images from the award-winning West End Production. For an even more immersive experience, guests can experience the magical world of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them through Daydream View, Google’s newly launched virtual reality headset. Wave a wand to solve puzzles and even meet a few of the beasts in Newt’s case. Finally, guests will be able to experience the Wizarding World in LEGO dimensions and explore the different world’s of Harry Potter.
Throughout the event there will also be a series of demonstrations and Q&A sessions featuring the film and creative talent from the movies! The Behind-the Scenes: Harry Potter Film Talent Discussion will allow guests to discover what it was like to work on the Harry Potter film franchise through and Q&A session with some favorite actors from the films. So far, this includes Warwick Davis and Mathew Lewis! For guests interested in what went into making the film, they can join Nick Dudman, special make-up effects artist, and Warwick Davis and learn how creature effects were brought to life in the Harry Potter movies. Creating Creatures for the Harry Potter Films will also give guests the chance to see some authentic models from the films.
Step into the world of Harry Potter and Learn Wand Combat Skills with Paul Harris. This interactive panel will allow guests the change to pickup a wand and take part in a live duelng masterclass. Then, at Stories from Harry Potter: the Exhibition, guests can see some of the best known authentic props up close and personal. Eddie Newquist, the creator of the exhibition and Pierre Bohanna will be on hand to share the stories of the props and costumes on display. MinaLima will also be there to share their insights from their work on the films including showing off some of their iconic props such as The Marauder’s Map, the daily Prophet and the MACUSA Wand Permit.
The event will also feature Harry potter film trivia and a Fan Art Walk where guests can draw Wizarding World-inspired chalk art. Universal Orlando’s attractions will also be available to guests for the weekend including The Wizarding World Of Harry Potter- Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley.
