Kennywood Sends Out First Teaser for 2019 Project
At the end of the 2017 season, Kennywood permanently closed the Log Jammer after 42 years of operation. Then in January, we seen video and photos of Log Jammer being demolished.
Now, Kennywood has started teasing fans on the future of the site via the parks instagram account. The image below shows excavated dirt from the construction site for the 2019 project. However, in the background of the image, we can see the iconic Racer coaster, which would mean the photo was taken from the old lagoon Log Jammer sat on. This confirms construction for the parks 2019 project has officially begun.
Nothing has been officially announced to replace Log Jammer yet, but long time rumors and leaked blueprints point toward a new roller coaster that would take advantage of the parks hilly terrain. With the removal of Log Jammer, those blueprints seem less convincing for this spot, since they were created with Log Jammer in place.
A new coaster isn’t there only rumor.. While Kennywood may still be moving forward with those coaster blueprints, super fans are also speculating Kennywood might be looking to bring back the parks turnpike ride that was removed in 2010 to make room for the Sky Rocket coaster. This piece of land is actually very fitting for a turnpike style attraction.
With that said, we have seen reps from a few different coaster manufactures visiting the park during the 2017 season, so a new coaster seems very promising to say the least 🙂 Stay tuned for more info right here as the project develops.
In 2018 Kennywood will debut Thomas Town, a new family area in addition to the already iconic kids area. This is the largest single year attraction in the parks history. More on that new addition here.
