Macy’s Holiday Parade at Universal Studios Orlando w Ice Cube and Kevin Hart
Universal has been inviting their guests to start a new “nontraditional” holiday tradition at Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure.
If you checked out Universal’s holiday season schedule, you may have noticed that the celebration dates have changed for 2015. Celebrations are taking place from December 5 – January 2 (whereas before 2014, the celebration occurred December 1 through New Year’s Day). Furthermore, the celebration still occurs over four weeks, but this year Universal is starting the festivities later and running them later as well.
The big event at Universal Studios Florida is the Macy’s Holiday Parade. Many of the actual props and balloons used in the New York Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade are shipped down to Universal Orlando for this event. The Macy’s Holiday Parade is notable too because unlike the Mardi Gras parade, which is generally scheduled once each week in the spring, this parade runs every single evening at 5:00pm or 8:00pm depending on the park hours for that particular day.
The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is certainly a TV tradition, but most people will never see it in person… Well, if you can’t make it due to annual Thanksgiving holiday traditions, now is your chance to see it live! Once the legendary New York City parade ends, many of the breathtaking balloons and floats are sent straight to Florida. They are then used for Universal Studios Florida’s very own holiday spectacular featuring marching bands, clowns, and an appearance from Santa himself! Afterwards, guests can enjoy the spectacular tree lighting ceremony with music and a dazzling display of lights!
We visited the parade today which featured movie star, Ice Cube, and Comedian, Kevin Hart!
