New Twisted Timbers Roller Coaster And WinterFest Coming To Kings Dominion
After months of hints and speculation, Kings Dominion has confirmed the addition of a new / re-imagined hybrid roller coaster and a Winterfest event!
The announcement was made this morning on National Roller Coaster Day during a special media event at the park.
The famed Hurler roller coaster will be re-imagined and reconstructed into a new twisted wonder containing wood and steel called Twisted Timbers. Rocky Mountain Construction known in the theme park industry as RMC, is currently working on the conversion. The re-imagined coaster will be taller, longer, faster and most importantly SMOOTHER than ever before! The ride will still use many of the wood supports that have been in place for many years, but will now have steel support beams mixed in. The track will be converted to a steel i-box track for an ultra smooth ride offering inversions that were once not possible on a wooden coaster. Twisted Timbers will also feature a 109 ft barrel roll drop, 3 over-banked turns, and 20 airtime hills!

The new coaster will be located in the Candy Apple Grove section of the park where construction has already started . Twisted Timbers is scheduled to open for the 2018 season.
Twisted Timbers wasn’t the only big announcement. Winterfest will also be coming to the park for the 2018 season.
Starting Holiday 2018, Kings Dominion will be magically transformed into a winter wonderland full of enchantment and holiday cheer!
Guests will be immersed in the season’s spirit complete with millions of spectacular holiday lights and decor, uniquely themed areas, multitudes of Christmas trees, world-class live entertainment, luscious treats, and fanciful experiences throughout the park. A tree lighting ceremony will kick off the event each evening. The parks fountain on international street will be transformed into a winter wonderland where guests will be able to ice skate in the shadows of the iconic Eiffel Tower.
International Street will be transformed into a Winter wonderland complete with a 70 foot tall Christmas tree decorated with over 40,000 ornaments! The Eiffel Tower will be converted into a 300 foot tall Christmas tree equipped with a state of the art light show for guests to watch as snow falls from the sky. Families will be able to experience all their favorite holiday traditions and more with Kings Dominion’s WinterFest!
