NEW VIDEO: RMC HURLER Construction Update at Kings Dominion
Over the weekend we made a visit to Kings Dominion to check out progress on the parks Hurler project.
Much like Cedar Point’s Mean Streak project, Kings Dominion has kept quiet about the construction taking place at the Hurler site. With a lot of speculation happening from coaster enthusiasts, we only actually have two facts thus far. One being that Rocky Mountain Construction (known as RMC) is on-site doing a rehab on the ride, creating a hybrid coaster – and a short teaser video that was released by the park back in October. The teaser started off with a couple of black and white shots of Hurler, but then transitioned into a shot of a tombstone reading, “Hurler 1994 – 2015”. finishing with 2018. Other than that, all lips are sealed as major construction continues at the former Hurler site. Before we jump into our new construction update video, here’s a quick look back at the “Rest in Piece teaser”, basically killing off the Hurler… for now..
It's official.

Over the weekend, Emma took a quick stroll past the Hurler site to check out any progress. There’s plenty of new supports and ledgers in place creating much higher airtime hills, but most notably are the ones creating a steeper lift hill — which means MORE SPEED! Hopefully, for inversions!
If you look really close while visiting the park or have a zoom lens, you will notice they have started to lay maroon Ibox track on the turnaround — The same color as Mean Streak’s new track at Cedar Point. Other than our new update video and this photo from Angelo Giles, there’s not a whole lot more to see from public areas right now.
Taking notes from the teaser video, Hurler is rumored to be open for the 2018 season (probably with a new name). Are you excited to see what’s in store for the Hurler coaster? Let us know on our socials and stay tuned for more updates as we re-visit Kings Dominion next weekend!
The Hurler construction isn’t the only thing happening right now. There’s plenty of new excitment at Kings Dominion in 2017. Click here to see what all’s new! Kings Dominion also recently made it way into our Top Destination Visits for Thrill Seekers!
