New Vintage Rides, County Fair, and WinterFest Coming To Carowinds
Family fun will have a new twist at Carowinds starting in 2017. A new County Fair section of the park will create the classic summer fair feel with all new enhanced food choices and the addition of some old favorite flat rides. Take a look at what’s happening in 2017 below!
The food location Wings, will receive renovations and an upgraded menu to give the county fair feel. Carowinds will debut a handful of refurbished, vintage rides for the 2017 season that aim to appeal to both young and older park visitors.
Responding to guest requests, “the park deployed teams around the world to find the best classic rides that were built in the mid-20th century”, said Richard Zimmerman, chief operating officer of Carowinds’ parent company, Cedar Fair. below is what they found:
Do-Si-Do will send riders gliding and spinning through the air as three different arms move in different directions.
Electro-Spin will send you flying into orbit in floorless gondolas. You’ll spin and flip upside down 63 feet in the air!
Rock ‘N’ Roller, is a County Fair classic that will send you spinning round and round at the pace of some high-energy tunes. Add some spectacular lighting effects and you have the perfect County Fair experience.
The final addition, Zephyr, is a family swing ride that will suspend riders over the park giving them a spectacular view.
“These are vintage classic rides restored to their full glory,” Zimmerman said. “These are the types of rides that a lot of our guests grew up riding when they visited Carowinds after it opened in the early 1970s.”
AND THAT’S NOT ALL! Beginning in November of 2017, a new family tradition, WinterFest will take over as the park is transformed into a winter wonderland with spectacular light displays and holiday cheer.
Midway Merryment will fill the park’s midways with melodious song and dance. Guests will have the chance to meet their favorite holiday characters like Jack Frost. You can also get in the holiday spirit with some Christmas crafts and holiday-themed activities. Decorate ornaments and cookies, feed Santa’s reindeers, and even ice skate on Snowflake Lake.
Several live shows will take the stage during WinterFest. Christmas musicals and nightly lightings of the 70-foot tall Christmas trees will keep the whole family amazed. Finally, Charlie Brown’s Christmas Tree Lot will set up shop in Planet Snoopy. Guests can walk through the lot and meet Linus and Charlie Brown!
A holiday themed menu will be available. The menu will feature smoked turkey and carved hams as well as homemade hot chocolate!
