SeaWorld Orlando Announces New Show and Kraken Unleashed Opening Date
This morning at a media event titled “What’s Next is Now” we learned about some new attractions and shows coming to SeaWorld Orlando.
Along with the Infinity Falls river ride announcement, we were also informed about the opening date of Kraken Unleashed: The Virtual Reality Experience, and SeaWorld’s newest show POP!
Kraken will close for virtual reality preparations on Monday, April 17 and debut as Kraken Unleashed on Friday, June 16. Modifications include updates to the station and the trains, since the VR experience will include sound, and changes to the ride entrance. The ride will also include an all new virtual queue experience.
The Kraken Unleashed station will start as a sea base. As you ascend the lift hill you will dive into the ocean and explore seismic activity as the explorer. The Kraken Unleashed experience will include near miss experiences with giant sea creatures in a super size scale offering an action packed cinematic experience. Below is a real image that will be shown on the ride. Below is an example of what wearing the virtual reality headsets will look like. The headsets will be completely optional; if you choose to ride without the headsets you will be permitted to do so.

Along with the Kraken Unleashed opening date, we’ve also learned about another new addition to SeaWorld: Pop, a new bubble show coming to the Nautilus Theater. Back in September, it was announced that a new show would debut at the theater during Memorial Day weekend, and now we finally have more details.
Pop will feature bubble master Fan Yang, a nineteen time Guinness Book of Record holder, who can do amazing things with bubbles. Some of these amazing things include putting bubbles inside other bubbles, and blowing bubbles into different shapes. To accommodate the new show, the theater will be upgraded with a new sound system and two large screens will also be added to each side of the theater. Rehearsals will begin in May, and Pop will premiere on Friday, May 26, 2017. We had a chance to preview the new show, check it out! (Keep in mind this is a test run preview and many new things will be added for the official launch).
