SeaWorld Releases MAKO Coaster POV Plus Details on Sharks Realm

Just a few months ago, during an employee meeting at SeaWorld Orlando, park execs made an announcement that a new 200 ft coaster would be installed at the park in 2016.

With speeds exceeding 70 mph, MAKO will propel riders across a track that’s 4,760 feet long and encounter a 200 foot drop. It’s a “hyper coaster”, which is the term given to rides that reach at least 200 feet high. The ride will reach speeds of 70 mph and travel through multiple tall hills and valleys giving guests plenty of “air time”. A 48,000-watt surround-sound system envelops the entire realm also, which will have sound follow the coaster trains as they dive through and around the area.

There will be no upside-down elements on the new ride, which has been engineered to create stretches of weightlessness“, said Brian Morrow, senior director of attraction development.

SeaWorld unveiled their new full POV of their latest coaster MAKO! Take a ride on the all new coaster!

SeaWorld’s new coaster is based on mako sharks, known for their speediness and their ability to change course quickly, which is why the new coaster isn’t the only addition to the park. It will be accompanied by an all new area tentatively titled “Sharks Realm“. The new area will be reminiscent of a giant shipwreck, fully shark themed including Mako, Shark Encounter, Sharks Underwater Grill, shops, and shark educational experiences.sharks realm seaworld

A SeaWorld Orlando permit with the running title “Project Fin” filed with the South Florida Water Management District shows what appears to be a map of the paved walkway guests will take to see and learn about the different sharks at the marine park.
