Several Theme Parks Have Closed Early For The Season
With bitter cold temperatures sweeping the east coast, several theme parks hosting annual holiday events, have changed their operating scheduled or closed early for the season.
Here’s a quick run down of the parks effected so far:
In Pennsylvania, Hersheypark has adjusted their opening time today (12/30/17) to 2pm to allow time to clear snow from the midways. Park officials advise to check their official park app to see which rides are operating.
Over at Coney Island New York, Deno’s Wonder Wheel Amusement Park and Luna Park have cancelled plans to open the Wonderwheel and the Thunderbolt Roller Coaster for their New Years Eve event. However, the B&B Carousell will be open for free rides — Plus, the first 250 guests at Abe Stark Skating Rink will skate for free!
Sesame Place is open today (12/30/2017) but have cancelled the Neighborhood Street Christmas parade.
Kings Island will open tonight (12/30/2017), but with limited operations.
The weather is even affecting parks in Florida as Volcano Bay will be closed January 1st and 2nd due to cold weather.
CLOSED FOR THE SEASON
- Six Flags Great Adventure
- Six Flags America
- Six Flags New England
- Six Flags St. Louis
- Lake Compounce
- Storybook Land
So far, these are all of the changes we have found. If you’re planning to visit any parks this weekend, make sure to check your destination park’s official social pages for any status updates and information involving crowd levels. We expect extremely busy crowds for New Years, especially the Florida parks.
Be sure to share this on your socials so your friends or family member can avoid making a trip for nothing!
Thank you to the parks and our fans for a great year from all of us here at Coaster Nation, we wish you all a safe and happy New Year!
