Six Flags Great America Announces New Joker Roller Coaster For 2017
This morning, Six Flags Great America announced The Joker 4-D free fly coaster for 2017. It will be the park’s 15th coaster! On this wicked new adventure, you’ll soar outside the confines of the track in wing cars facing other riders!
The Joker will lift riders up 12 stories, along a 90 degree lift and flip riders at least six times throughout the ride. The roller coaster will use magnetic technology, unlike a traditional track coaster. It will feature cars that seat up to 8 people, with face-to-face seating. The park plans to run 5 cars at a time. Each ride offers a different experience depending on weight of riders. Check out the promo video below!
Park President Hank Salemi stated:
“We are excited to continue our partnership with the DC brand as it continues to resonate well with our guests. The Joker is undeniably one of the greatest Super-Villains of all time. This free-fly coaster will perfectly capture the essence of the warped and unpredictable nature of The Joker. It will take our park to the next level of thrills”.
The Joker will feature:
- At least six inversions
- 120 foot elevator-style, chain link lift hill
- Two drops beyond 90 degrees
- One minute ride
- Ride length approximately 1,000 feet
- Massive, imposing, floating and twisting I-box track frame in a unique two-tone design
The design by Utah-based S&S Sansei Technologies opened in June 2015 in Six Flags San Antonio and then was installed this spring at Six Flags Great Adventure in New Jersey with positive reviews. The new Joker coaster is set to open spring 2017 in the Yankee Harbor section of the park, next the Batman The Ride roller coaster.
