Universal Announces Volcano Bay Opening Day
Today Universal posted this photo on their Facebook page, revealing the opening date: Thursday, May 25. Universal sent out media coverage invites that will take place starting May 22, all leading up to a grand opening celebration on the 25th.
Volcano Bay will be the first water park to utilize technology that won’t require guests to wait in line. So far we know this reservation system will be called Tapu Tapu and will be a wristband you wear while at the park. The centerpiece of Volcano Bay will be the 200 foot tall Krakatau, featuring the signature ride, the Krakatau Aqua Coaster. Other slides include Kala & Tai Nui Serpentine Body Slides, Ko’okiri Body Plunge, and Tot Tiki Reef + Runamukka Reef.
Theme parks normally do soft openings on new attractions, however as of yet Universal as not announced any details about previews for employees or annual pass holders.
In November, Universal started selling combo tickets that include both parks plus Volcano Bay. Details have not been released yet about single day tickets or annual passes.
