Wizarding World of Harry Potter Is Officially Open at Universal Studios Hollywood

The highly anticipated Wizarding World of Harry Potter is now officially open at Universal Studios Hollywood!

“Today is a very exciting and historically significant day for us,” added Larry Kurzweil, president of Universal Studios Hollywood. “This incredible event to celebrate the opening of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter marks the pinnacle of years of hard work and the beginning of a new generation of Universal Studios Hollywood. With over 75 percent completely reimagined, Universal Studios Hollywood is an entirely new theme park destination and we look forward to sharing everything that the entertainment capital of L.A. has to offer with visitors from around the world.“

The park unveiled its long-awaited $500-million attraction, five years in the making, on Thursday April 7, 2016.

For the first time ever, tickets to the park SOLD OUT! Thousands of fans gathered at the entrance before dawn, waiting to be among the first to set foot in Hogsmeade, the quaint cobblestone village where Hogwarts students, and now muggles, too can enjoy a butter beer or have a wand “choose” them at Ollivanders Wand Shop.

The new Wizarding World section of the park includes the rides Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey and Flight of the Hippogriff, as well as the eateries Three Broomsticks, Hog’s Head pub. Of course it wouldn’t be the Wizarding World without the shops! You will find various shops such as Honeydukes, Ollivanders, Owl Post, Zonko’s Joke Shop, Wiseacre’s Wizarding Equipment, Dervish and Banges, Gladrags Wizardwear and Filch’s Emporium of Confiscated Goods.

“I am delighted to see the Wizarding World of Harry Potter brought to life in a way that is so close to what I imagined when writing the books. I’m thrilled that Harry Potter fans can now experience the wonderful immersive experience created at Universal Studios Hollywood,” J.K. Rowling, author of the fantasy books on which the movies were based, said in a statement Thursday.

Although tickets sold out for opening weekend, they are still available for the rest of the month. A one-day general admission pass on weekends will cost visitors $105 and weekday passes run for $95. If they are purchased online in advance, park-goers can save as much as $20. For those who want to go for more than one day, the best option is to purchase a season pass for $119. Guests can also opt to skip to the front of the line, but it will cost as much as $239.
