Kennywood To Host 5k 10k and a Roller Coaster Race
Kennywood is famous for the Racer and a slew of other iconic roller coasters. This summer, visitors of the historic amusement park can compete in two all-new races, both on the ground and the tracks!
On Saturday, June 6, Kennywood will team up with Roller Coaster Race for the Pittsburgh-area theme park’s first ever running competitions: a 5K run/walk and a 10K run.
The course will take competitors through Kennywood, offering a unique perspective of the park before it opens. The 10K race will also travel outside of the park through the surrounding communities of West Mifflin and Duquesne.
Once Kennywood opens, non-runners and roller coaster enthusiasts get their own competition dubbed “The Roller Coaster Ride”. Riders will climb aboard Kennywood’s six unique coasters until they have ‘ridden’ a total of 5K, traveling a total of 16,405 feet on the tracks. Participants will receive a race wristband and each time they ride a coaster the wristband will be stamped. The event has various prizes up for grabs!
Online pre-registration is over but limited slots for In-person registration will be held during packet pick-up on Thursday, June 4, Friday, June 5, and race day, Saturday, June 6.

- Park ticket ($41.99 value)
