Six Flags Great America Opening This Weekend with a Super Hero Events
Six Flags Great America in Gurnee, Illinois is opening for the 2018 season this weekend with a super hero twist! Various super hero themed events will be offered when the park re-opens.
Friday, Six Flags will be kicking off with a Superhero Glow Run, featuring an epic fun run with glowing powder, backlights, and of course exclusive coaster time!
Pre-Party
The Pre-Party will be located in Hometown Square. Food locations will be open for pre-race snacks, retail locations for additional capes, glow powder packs and a DJ to help warm up your running muscles! Runners are encouraged to start covering their selves in glow powder before the race begins.
The Race
The race will be inside and outside the park. You may walk or run, and will get more glow powder thrown on you along the way. There will be color and blacklight stations so you will see just how much you glow!
The run will not be timed, so for the serious runners it is recommended you bring your watch or timing device if you want to keep fully accurate track of your training.
After Party
After the race, all runners are encouraged to stay and enjoy some Exclusive Superhero Glow Run Ride Time! Get a chance to ride some of the best rides in the Midwest before the summer gets into full swing.
Tasty treats and awesome merchandise will be available for purchase during the party, PLUS the DJ will be playing all the hits to dance the night away. This is definitely a post-party everyone can enjoy! Alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase.
Doors will open at 6:00 p.m. on Friday April 20, 2018. All guests, even spectators and Season Pass holders, will be required to purchase an entry ticket to this exclusive event. Registration will remain open until the start of the event.
Saturday and Sunday will feature the Superhero Cape-a-Palooza fundraising event.
While you are out having a blast at Six Flags make sure you think of those in need. Be a hero by making a super donation that will help lift the spirit of any child! For every cape purchased at the front of the park from April 21-22, Six Flags will donate a youth cape to Special Olympics of Illinois and Wisconsin. Capes will be for sale in Carousel Plaza on carts for $14 as a part of this week-long event! Special Olympics athletes and volunteers will be assisting with the event on Saturday.
