Cedar Point’s Raptor Getting New Paint + HalloWeekends Updates!
When news was officially released by Cedar Point about 2016’s Valravn dive coaster, that turned the attention of Cedar Point guests to the attractions that’ll neighbor the new 10 time world-record breaking coaster. The site of Valravn used to be the home of the Good Times Theatre and the Turnpike Cars for a number of years. During Valravn media day, General Manager Jason McClure confirmed that the dorms behind the site will stay for at least a few more years. Then there’s the 21 year old Raptor coaster that’ll share the nest with the new bird seeking to scare-up guest’s thrills. A lot of coaster freaks have told us about the paint job needed on Raptor; while we didn’t think the coaster was going anywhere, some wondered if it’s final days were upon us. We seem to have found our answer recently based on the photos recently posted by the Cedar Point History fan page!
As you can see from the photos, there’s an area at the base of the coaster track that shows the different color of paint that’s being tested. At Valravn media day, it was revealed that the a new paint job was coming for Raptor. This color choice appears to be the winner due to the Valravn color package that’ll be in place. You can see the difference in color between the current paint on the majority of Raptor and the new color that Cedar Point is going with. This darker shade of turquoise will be a nice contrast with the Valravn bronze, silver and gold color scheme.
This sighting is all good timing as tonight kicks off Cedar Point’s Haunt at HalloWeekends, which is open on Fridays and weekends through November 1st. Cedar Point has also been nominated for Best Theme Park Halloween Event by 10Best.com! The Point’s annual event showcases some of the best in haunt and thrills with shrills and this year is no different but there will be some new attractions added:
- Fear-y Tales-the outdoor area in Camp Snoopy where twisted fairy tale folks look to stop anyone living happily ever after
- Slaughter House-the indoor maze trail located on the Frontier Trail, where the butchers are out for fresh meat and you might be on their menu
- Night of the Living Fed-the All-You-Can-Eat Buffet featuring Halloween themed food at Cedar Point’s Lakeside Pavilion. Available only on Saturdays from 5 PM-7 PM for $24.00 or $19.00 if purchased in advance.
- Pumpkin Blaze-will feature more than 1,000 carved pumpkins illuminated at a display by Top Thrill Dragster
Absent from the line-up of haunted attractions is Midnight Syndicate, who put on spooky shows last season. They appear to have gotten evicted when the Good Times Theatre was torn down along with the Turnpike Cars last season to make way for Valravn next year. Hopefully they can work the graveyard shift somewhere to make-up for lost wages! [Pun Intended]
